December

Several of the temple missionaries kicked off the season with the New York City Ballet Nutcracker, the famous Ballanchine choreography. Phenomenal. (almost as good as Oregon Ballet! heehee). The prima ballerina was stuff of legend. Gorgeous theater. The curtain is about 4 stories high! You should have seen the growing Christmas tree (I would have recorded it, but then I'd be in jail, or kicked out, you choose).

The commute to Lincoln Center - and it's wonderful theatres - is to die for, about 5 minutes. We live almost across the street. And don't have to park!

The wonderful Light the World giving vending machines. So cool! Right outside the temple. I bought a sewing machine for some unseen person. You could give anything from subway passes to a cow or a goat. 🐄

Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square. Restaurants, musicians, rainy night, Christmas Tree lighting, cool stuff.

In line. Will we ever get inside?

We spent an evening with friends at Radio City Music Hall, watching the Rockettes. This was - without a doubt - the most SPECTACULAR show we've ever seen. Defines the word!

We truly couldn't believe the scope of this place

Two organs!!

Someone wants his photo with a Rockette!

Christmas morning, a big group of missionaries took the Staten Island Ferry to Rukmal's home (sorry, his last name is unspellable and unpronounceable). He's one of the Temple engineers, and is from Sri Lanka. Delicious, Sri Lankan food enjoyed by all!

Cold day - need ear muffs!

Beautiful city, on the way home Christmas night.

Our kiddos decorated these cardstock stockings, and sent them to hang. They even included the command strip hangers for the wall!
Final product - adults top row, in order of age. Grandkids, bottom row, in order of age. (Marty is the granddoggie)

From all our friends who sent cards - the majority came in a cute package from Portland Choir & Orchestra. Thanks for making our bare-wall apartment something to talk about!

Our cute little Christmas tree - it was about 2 feet high from base to tip. To give an idea of size, the little gift underneath is one of those earring-size gift boxes. But we loved the Christmas season, our family was in contact, we worked in the temple, and spent more time than ever appreciating the Savior and his atonement.

Thanksgiving - Macy's Parade & Dinner with New Friends

Our wonderful friends, the Grays, organized a big group of us so we could have front and center seats for the Macy's parade. We took the chairs to an apartment the night before, and at 4:30am, a few hardy souls set the chairs up right along the street on the NW corner of 66th and Central Park West. Others guarded them until we all showed up at 7:30. That's a.m. 21 degrees!! This is why we all bought sleeping bag coats for winter! ❄❅❆
Look at the temp!
Breck England handing out hot oatmeal and hot chocolate

Yes - I bought this 😏

Darling friends stuffed by a delicious meal, and stuffed into DeBry's apartment.

My fun, new friend, Deanna DeBry, helped kick off the Christmas season with a bang, down in our lobby on the Steinway. Sleigh Ride, baby! Missed our family, the jingle bells and claps, but someone knew to add the horsey neigh at the end! 🐎

Subway scenes

What a great place to people watch! Here are a few of our favorites from subway stations or trains. Sorry about the videographer - still learning.

These guys were on the train on our way home from church one Sunday. Here's one time I don't feel bad giving money away!
WHY? (look closely at his "pet")

Probably from Juilliard
Wish I would have been able to get this guy from the front!

This guy had a huge speaker in his pocket, Great dancer. Wish I'd gotten him a lot earlier.

And the "Piece of Resistance" - look quickly. (thanks to grandson, Jack, and the Lego Movie for that title). Ewww - they're everywhere.
